A Heart Home
A Heart Home
Location: Nazareth Village
Verse: “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. ‘Come and see,’ said Phillip.” – John 1:46
Reflection: As we walked through a home designed to replicate that of Jesus’ in Nazareth, I was startled by how ordinary it was. There was nothing special about the hometown of Christ, or about his family home. The Most High God was housed in stone rooms that resembled all of the others of its time. Although the home of God looked like nothing much to the people then, today, droves flock from all corners of the globe to walk through this small replication because they believe it housed the extraordinary. The light of life has spread from an ordinary Mary womb to a straw-filled stable, to a humble Galilean abode to a criminal’s cross, and finally, to Heaven’s highest throne. Many did not recognize the extraordinary in the normal and God often births miraculous from monotonous. Inside the God-house, a Mary actress performed normal tasks and habits. She was weaving wool, as any woman of her time would have done in the home. You are a God-home too and God calls you to practice ordinary tasks and habits daily that may feel monotonous at the time, but continuous healthy choices and habits build compounded growth. What makes you significant today is that you are a God-home, although it may not look or feel astonishing, choose to believe that as you trust and obey Him, He will do things in and through you more remarkable than you can imagine. He will do this not because of the state or appearance of his heart-home in you, but because of the nature of Unfathomable God who dwells there.
