Hope Mindset
What does it mean to live with a Hope Mindset?
How does this help you accomplish your God-given purpose?
Many years ago, I had a dream of starting my own school. For a long time, it seemed like an impossible dream. I had no idea how to make it happen because I had some things to learn first.
My life was full and active with some public-school teaching experience, a backpacking trip in Europe, getting married and then divorced in the space of a year. Finishing my teaching degree, prepared me for launching an independent school for children with learning difficulties.
During those years, I learned that the God who created the universe had a plan for me. Not just a general, salvation kind of purpose, but a very specific outline for my life! My faith in the God who is love, gives me HOPE for whatever He wants to bring into my life. (“…these three remain: faith, hope and love.” I Corinthians 13: 13)
Being divorced, I had a longing for a husband and family, but I had to let go of all my expectations and put my trust in the One who loves me unconditionally. He sent me a great husband who had two sons and then provided us with three daughters. We were married for 35 years before he died in 2014, but my life with kids and grandkids is still full and active!
I am learning to live a life of gratitude, letting go of control, forgiving others, and offering blessings to everyone I meet. We are all students in this life and learning is necessary for growth of any kind. A hope mindset grows from an awareness of God’s powerful love for me. He “works all things together for good for them that are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
The difficulties I have gone through in my life have made me more confident in the HOPE that is in me – “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1: 27).
I have written my story of starting not just one school, but two during my career. The second is a Christian school and both are still operating. To get the whole story, my book called, Flourish in a World Full of People, is available for order on Amazon and Chapters/Indigo. Or ask your local bookstore to order some copies.
