Miracle Living

Janet bravely made the move from Jamaica to Canada as a teenager before being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Janet has faced treatments and undergone two stem cell transplants.

There is very little she takes for granted in life.

Weeks ago, Janet walked towards me with emotions bursting and took my hands. She asked me to pray. She had recently been notified there was a lesion in her bone and her doctor was concerned. Further testing had been scheduled for the week ahead and Janet asked specifically for prayers that the lesion would be gone.

She said she believed that God would make her well.

Days later, Janet told about her miracle week. The lesion that had been concerning was no longer. Janet’s eyes shimmered with emotion as she exclaimed her marked gratitude for the good news and her absolute confidence that a miracle had happened in her body.

Good News.

The truth is, earnest prayers don’t always lead to good news. Sometimes at the other end of our prayers we find grief and honest disappointment. I will never forget, as a little girl, standing at the graveside of my uncle, feeling like my prayers had been unanswered. I remember riding in the car after his passing, having the lyrics swirl from the famous Mercy Me song, I Can Only Imagine:

Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus
Or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in your presence
To my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah
Will I be able to speak at all

Healing happens in a variety of ways and we are instructed to pray for physical healing but our Hope is in the Healer, Himself.

Are you afraid to hope?
Does uncertainty keep you from expectation?

The events of your future are uncertain, yes.
But the Healer will always help.
He brings insight for the directionless.
He provides comfort for the distressed.
He unveils truth to the deceived.

He promises, to anyone who asks to be made whole, to make that heart completely new. By asking, and believing – we are guaranteed that He will do this. There is no wondering or uncertainty. That’s His promise.

“This is the core of our preaching. Say the welcoming word to God –
“Jesus is my Master” –embracing, body and soul,
God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead.
That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything;
you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you.
That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right,
and then you say it, right out loud:
“God has set everything right between him and me!”
– Romans 10:10 MSG

This is a miracle far greater than the healing of a lesion. This miracle makes you whole now and is the passageway to peace with God – forever.

There is no uncertainty here.
There is no better life.
This is Miracle Living.

After Jesus’ rising, He spoke resurrection power over you by saying, “I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” – John 14:27 NLT

How can we choose miracle living, even in uncertainty?

God wired us to thrive on the inside when we choose daily patterns that connect us to Him. This allows us to experience miracle living now, instead of aiming all of our hope and happiness on a future outcome. Yes, we desire positive outcomes in life – but the big goal, to be made whole, is already accomplished and makes way for peace to protect you, this day, and always. That’s a guarantee.
