A Prayer for Transformation
By Colleen Swinnerton
As I reflect upon Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ I am filled with excitement, a sense of wonder and hope, for I have come to truly know Him as my Prince of Peace. He who was and is to come, is the One who lives in me. Behold the One I love has come, Saviour of the world. God with me forever, Emmanuel.
As I linger in His presence I am overwhelmed and humbled by the extravagant, merciful love my Heavenly Father captured my heart with this past year. I cried out, “God help me, rescue me!” And He did! He surrounded me, lifted and transformed me.
Jesus came as the Light of the world to rescue us all. His very life to provide an example of pure, unfailing sin-free love. God sent Jesus bursting through the darkness, illuminating this world with the Light of His Truth. Providing a way, where there was no way, to experience the fullness of God’s Love.
Because of Jesus our hearts are free from the weight of sin. Free from the torture of lies, deceit and darkness. Jesus was born, lived, died and rose again so that we could walk, talk and sing of a life filled with the beauty of His Holy Presence living inside us.
Jesus made it possible for us to engage in a life-giving, fulfilling friendship with our good good Father.
My prayer and hope for all of us in 2020:
On our knees, humbled before You Father, may we all surrender our lives to You everyday of our lives. May we totally comprehend and embrace the gift of Your Son Jesus. As we breathe, may we praise the Lord for the magnificence of the birth of Your Son Jesus. May we live our lives in consistent, powerful communion with You, God. May the wonders of Your Love touch our hearts and light our spirits on fire, causing unspeakable joy. May we grow in our faith as we obediently flow, led by Your Holy Spirit. Use us all Lord. May the passion motivating our individual giftings be contagious, powerfully impacting our community to glorify You. May the miracle of the birth and life of Jesus inspire us all to love as He loved bringing glory to our God and hope to our world. In Jesus’ most Holy Name, Amen.
