Meditation

Isaiah 61:8
“For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery and wrongdoing. In my faithfulness I will reward my people and make an everlasting covenant with them.”

Deuteronomy 32:4
“He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”

Prayer

Father,

You embody justice. Your heart beats with wild ardour for vulnerable people to be protected and defended. God, Your justice is not equivalent to generosity or charity – it is the very definition of how things ought to be; how You intended things to be in the beginning. You hate the exploitation of the weak and powerless, because this ought not to be. As Your created child, I bear Your image by having justice implanted in my own heart. When I see the hungry children, the exploitation of hard-working parents that earn little, and the atrocities of sex trafficking, I know with certainty, this is not how things should be. Help me to participate in Your fight against injustice on earth in the ways You are calling me to.
